Installed Pro 5.0 Shifter...

I installed my pro 5.0 shifter last night into my car without the motor in the car....well after I put it in and i move the lil shifter deal back and forth it is really really rough. It like grinds or something. I want to know if this is normal? I pulled it out and thought maybe I had it on backwards, but it only goes on one way so I am positive it is on right. Maybe there is something special I had to do when putting it in? It was really simple (after i ripped the fu**ing dash out and unbolted like 15 bolts) and I thought I had it correct It is pissing me off. Oh and if anyone here has installed one, the part on the pro 5.0 that says "pro 5.0 shifter" or whatever is towards the front of my car, not the rear. Thanks!

yeah the PRO 5.0 part is gonna seem like it is on backwards when you look at it. Also when my car is off i can't go through the gears even if i push the clutch in. It will feel really rough untill you start the car then it should be smooth. So i would just wait untill you get ur motor back in then check it.

Make sure you lock-tite the allen head bolts that connect the stick to the shifter. Going 72 mph with the stick in your hand is no way to start a day...don't ask.

Yeh, the bolts rattling around was the first clue, however, that mentality of 'come on, just 10 more miles till I'm at work, and I'll fix it there instead of on the side of the interstate' kicked in. Trying to take the console apart and drive and hold the bolts in at the same time didn't work.

My stick kept coming loose the first month or so i had it..... then i got pissed and torqued the s*** out of the bolts one day and haven't had a problem since (about 6 months now). No Lock-tite though.

I found a piece of pipe about a footlong that fit nicely over the allen key and used that to torque the bolts. Havent had one come loose yet (4 months).
