Identifying the trans in my car?

I just bought a 94 Formula
No paperwork - but the parts look to match the description.
Was told it has a Yank 700R4 and stall.
It's oon the lift and I read SS3800 and 05/03 on the convertor.

How do I tell which trans I have and if it's supposed to lock up?

It should be a 4L60E in a '94. Do you have a TV cable attatched to your throttle body for the transmission? The 700 used them. The 4L60E doesn't. Do you see a governor cover on the drivers side/rear on the transmission? This will be a large metal cap, near the rear of the transmission, just before the tailhousing. Is your case electrical plug on the drivers or passengers side? The 700 uses a smaller plug on the drivers side. The '60E uses a larger plug on the passengers side.
