i need to put in new gears

i just put in a junkyard rear end because my housing was bent and it cam with 273s and out the hole it sux and i have 342s in my old rear end and was wondering if its worht payin 100 dolars for an install kit and if getin the wear pattern right is hard because i dont want it to make any noise. so what shuld i do

Get a professional to install it and get whatever kit they recommend.

Your idea of changing gears from 2-series carrier (2:73) to 3series gears (3:42) won't work unless you can find a spacers for the gear set. Also its going to cost in the $500/700 range with parts & labor. So is it worth it for you.

just get a new set of gears that fit your carrier, unless you have your 3.42 carrier
