I need help with a transmission swap! Someone explain...

Ok i am getting a 1995 firebird formula with 88000miles on it. Everything works perfect exceppt for part of the transmission. 2nd in the tranny does not work. It is like being in neutral when it is shifted into 2nd. everything else and every other gear works perfectly. i do not know what this problem is and im not educated enough in the field of transmissions to diagnose it therefore i am just having another transmission swapped in place of this one. Now to the question: i need to know what all i need to provide to the mechanic in order for him to do the swap. is all i need is the new transmission or is there other hidden stuff i will need? any help would be great. i appreciate it.

If a mechanic is doing the swap then all you should need to give him is the new tranny.
By the way, I had the same thing happen with my tranny, 2nd gear gone 1st, 3rd, and 4th fine.
Long story short the tranny was toast.
I had to have alot of internal parts replaced in the rebuild, my tranny guy said he could not believe it was still functioning.
Good luck.
