Question How would you clean a dusty Auburn differential?

I found a nice old series 3 carrier in my garage I need to use, and it's a bit fuzzy. I don't want to spray it with anything like carb/brake cleaner just yet. Would a good blast from a garden hose work, then wipe it down real quick?

Take it to a shop that has a degrease tank and let them clean it with solvent. Not the best idea to use a water hose. Never hear that water and bare metal results in RUST.
