How to remove pilot bearing?

Is there a tool i can buy/rent to remove this. I made the mistake of not replacing it last time so now i have to after my tranny rebuild. Thanks.

Re: How to remove pilot bearing?

I used the shaft off of a cheap pulley puller, any bolt that will thread in there tightly will work, once it hits the back of the hole in the crank it will force the bearing out and then u can just pull the bolt out with the bearing on it, like i said any bolt or tap that fits in there snug will do, hope that helps

Re: How to remove pilot bearing?

Materials needed:
water, toilet paper
OR
grease

11 mm 1/4 drive socket and extension or something that is the diameter of the input shaft end

hammer

Pack the cavity behind the bushing with grease or with sopping wet toilet paper.
Put the socket on the extension backwards (for a relatively flat face) and place in the bearing/bushing hole.
Hit the extension with the hammer. If you use the grease, the bushing should come out more easily, but it makes a bigger mess.
If you use the toilet paper, you hit it a couple of times and repack. Repeat.
As the cavity behind the bushing fills, it will hyrdraulically push the bushing out.

This works quite nicely. I like using the toilet paper because when the bushing comes out, it leaves behind damp paper that, when you dig it out, leaves everything clean.
