Angry how much work and cash for Manual Conversion

It seems my 4l60-e is about to take a poop. How much work and money would it be to convert it to t56 6 speed. Or should I just buy a Performance 4l60. I just dont want to buy another auto and have it take another dump on me, too pricey and dont last long enough. Any input will be appreiated.

Re: how much work and cash for Manual Conversion

Well finished my few weeks ago.. Only took me 3 nights, working on it about 4 hours a night. Its pretty easy, if you know what you need and what your doing. I have some good info sites that would help you. Shoot me a PM and i will send them too you. Total cost for mine what pretty cheap, $1300 and that was for everything i needed to convert. I found some really good deals here on the site. So check around see what you can come up with. I consider myself pretty lucky though. $1300 is pretty cheap for completing the swap..

The going rate for the T56 change-over kit is usually around $1500+shipping.
I'd recommend getting a new clutch kit, and possibly a new flywheel, should cost you around $300 for those parts at Advance Auto or Autozone.

It wan be done in a day if you work constantly through it, but 2 days is the norm.
We did an Auto to Manual swap and a manual to auto swap in 2 days. Had both cars in the driveway next to each other and just swapped drivetrans.

I'll sell you mine. It is a borg warner t-56 with Spec stage 2 clutch (300 miles on clutch) w/ the clutch pedal salve cylinder and all for 1500.00 plus shipping. The tranny could use synchro's while it's out. You can get them at www.thegearbox.org
I'm tired of shifting. It's still in the car, so let me know if you guys want it.

It cost me $1700 with everything I needed (bought used from a member of this board). Here's a site that sells the conversion: http://www.tennesseeauto.com/19to20capa.html
However, search the boards and you'll find someone selling a full conversion kit.

BTW, here's the best install guide for this you'll ever see: http://www.afrashteh.com/tranny_pics/T56.htm It took my friend and I only 1 day to complete (about 7-8 hours).
