How much Tranny Fluid

I'm going to be changing my transmission fluid pretty soon. I have a 1993 auto trans with the 700R4. My question is how much fluid does it take to fill it up. I know I can guess and check, but I would like to get as close as possible the 1st time to make sure I dont do any damage.

Thanks
Chad

I am assuming you are going to drop the pan and change the filter. You will need 5 quarts of dexron III with mercon type trans fluid.

The entire trans hold like 14 quarts or something, and you can flush the entire thing yourself, but it is just easier tohave someone flush it for you.
