how much space between driveshaft and tranny is required?

i just put my 8.8 in last night and when i put on my reluctor gear on the driveshaft yoke it took up about 1inch of the space between the rear of the housing and the gear. I jacked the rear up to put full weight on the rear and i measured the distance between the Gear and end of housing and it came up to a little over 1/2 an inch. .550 approx. Is that enough room i don't want the driveshaft to collide with the end of the tranny housing. Thanks I will get some pics up when i am done also parts i used to keep my abs.

If your planning to launch hard then 1/2 inch should be an absolute minimum IMO. I guess I would pull the rear springs and run the rear suspension through its entire travel range and check your cleareances to be safe. I run 3/4" freetravel clearance when the car is at normal ride height. I'm anxious to hear how these 8.8's hold up. Sounds like a good quiet & strong soultion for street use.
