how much power can a stock tranny and rear end take?
i have a 97 lt1 camaro with the 6sp manual and i was wondering how much hp and torque the tranny and rear end can handle without any modification

I'd say you will have to o with a much beefier clutch/flexplate, and definetly upgrade the rear to a 9" or 12 bolt. Manual cars chew that 10 bolt up way to easily.

the t56 is rated at 450lbs ft of torque from the factory...they can handle more if need be.
but yeah the clutch and rear will blow way before the trans

I have less than 400hp at the crank and I've tore up my 10-bolt 3 times. With a rather hard shifting auto
I pick up my DriveTrainSpecialists 12-bolt tomorrow. DTS, Moser and Strange all make 12-bolts to fit 4th gens.

stock t56 can take a lot. the 10 bolt will live if you are easy on it off the line. 1.9-2.0 60s' and no wheel hop will give you decent rear end life.
