I have a McLeod Street Twin and a Ford 9". Assuming I race on ET streets, lets say 4000 rpm clutch dumps........at what point can I expect damage on the stock T56, like twisted output shafts?

there are a few guys running 10s and 9s on them. most have viper internals though.

taner is running a really fast one, maybe do a search for him...i don't know the specifics.

but from the factory they were rated to 450# of torque, and regularly see more than that and still live.

Really "how much" is a relative term and depends on man diffrent variables. Its like how some guys break ring lands and spin bearings on an lt-1 after adding a supercharger and some do not. If you are running the car on the track, that is obviously where it is going to break. To better handle the abuse you are planning on giving it I would say 30T viper output shaft conversion, cryo treat mainshaft and gears at minimum, new carbon fibre syncros, 3rd and 4th steel shift forks and complete overhaul kit. I think there is one more mod that i didnt list. D&D has all of the parts that you will need. I have an uncle in Concord CA that owns a trans shop who will be beefing mine up this winter.

I'm not going to have the $$ to drop on an upgraded trans anytime in the near future...my shortblock needs the attention more.

So I need to know how far I can push the existing trans.

There is a lot of variability. You aren't pushing a lot of hp (if the 362rwhp is accurate). On that basis, I think it may be fine for quite a while. But YMMV.

The 362 is 2 yrs old...its down now some because of a tired stock shortblock.

I realize things break and there are no hard rules, but just looking for some experience. I have a friend that was pushing 400rwhp and on ET streets, 12 bolt, Street Twin and 5000 rpm dumps twisted the T56 output shaft.

I'd really like to NOT do that, and if I need to limit to 4K dumps I will.

I would also imagine the wrinkle effect of the ET streets would soften the hit to the driveline.
