I want to know because Im purchasing the royal purple online and the stuff aint cheap

I don't want too much or too little.

would 4 quarts be enough?

edit: been reading up on royal purple and Im not sure if its the best fluid for what I need.

4 quarts. Any Dexron auto transmission fluid is ok. I would just use the cheapest one you find locally.

You might want to check the Tremec FAQ:

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Why not use a synthetic fluid?

A: Some brands of synthetic fluid contain powerful detergents and additives that can prove harmful to your transmission's synchronizers. While many synthetic fluids perform very well, in most cases, we do not recommend their use. Furthermore, they may void your warranty. For peace of mind, remember that TREMEC conducts all of its OEM validation testing using conventional fluids without issue.
