How much can a tight converter effect your times?

Hey all,

So I have a PI 3500 stall converter that I have had for a while (4+ years now), and when I foot break it with the 2-step set at 2000 RPM's or above it still spins the tires. This sucks because I have to set my 2-step @ 1600 RPM's for a decent launch right now. I was talking to a few people and I remember back in the day when I had the converter spec'd out I had it spec'd for basic bolt-on LT1, 3400# car, 3.73 geared, and a 150 shot of n2o. A few people have told me that if it was spec'd for nitrous, and I don't use it, that the converter is probably tighter then a non-nitrous converter.

So is my converter too tight, and what if anything could I pick up by getting it loosened up a little...

The car is a track only car now, it was my DD back when I got the converter. I'm not sure where it flashes and can't test that for a while since the car is up on jack stands while I finish up other mods. If I can get it re-stalled quickly then I may do that before hitting the track again, but I'm not even sure how long it takes to have a converter re-stalled...
