Question How hard to replace the differential unit?

My 10 bolt is starting to make a little noise going around sharp turns and on deceleration. Occasionaly it will do 1 legger burnouts. Right now it's got 3:73's in it, and they didn't whine when they were put in, which leads me to believe the posi's on the way out. Now would I be able to replace this, or is it something a shop should do? I plan on going with the torsen T/O unit from SLP.

Also, would the gears have to be reshimmed? I'm planing on welding the axle tubes while I'm at it. What else can I do to beef up the 10 bolt? Its and A4, so I don't reallly have a need for a 12 bolt, nor do I have the money. Any input would be appreciated.

Yes, the gears would have to be reset again...
