How hard to launch with a street twin and a 10 bolt?

Ok here is the deal. I need a good reliable clutch. I just got done taking out my 2 week old SLP set up. Something is either wrong with the stock flywheel (had it turned) or the new pressure plate. Either way i am replacing both so i don't have to take my tranny out again.

Now my car is a predominately street car. May go to the track a couple times a year. I have a 10 bolt that i wil be putting some 3.73's in soon. I won't run on anything more than drag radials.

When i launch the car i kinda feather the gas while i slip the clutch a little till i am moving fast enough that spinning is not a problem. Not exactly best for the cluthc but effective.

I have heard that you can't slip the Street twin at all. I have heard people say it's not even worth getting the street twin unless you have a 12 bolt and slicks. How true is this. I want somehting i can launch on the street somewhat decently.

My other choice for my power level is a Spec stage III which i have also heard you can't slip. I won't have a 12 bolt for some time. So would i just be wasting my money buying a Street Twin?

Thanks
Shawn

I have the Spec Stage III in my car. I ran around 40 passes until the rear let go and this is with close to 500Hp.

Last time at the track i got a little stupid and dumped it about 5K on et streets. Needless to say the 10 bolt didn't like it and let go.

I can launch easy on this clutch and i think you'll be fine especially if your only going to the track a couple of times a year on DR's

I am running the ST w/ 315 nitto 555R's and I did 4 WOT runs from a 15 roll, and one 1/4 mile, without warming up the tires, and slipping badly. After that I noticed a loud whine coming from the rear, and now it clanks around some turns. So I would have to say that if you get a ST, you can count on your rear going. BTW I am putting somewhere between 330-380 HP to the rear wheels.

I forgot the whole reason for posting I drove the car dayly for 3 weeks untill the rear went. It was almost exactly like my old kevlar spec stage III

You can slip the street twin just fine but it will take a bit more touch since the band between just starting to pick up friction and OMFG is small. When you start banging gears you won't be slipping it either. Even shifting is far more agressive and could possible hurt a 10 bolt. I couldn't honestly reccomend a ST with out a 12 bolt or 9 inch.

I also won't be doing any 4 or 5k dumps either. It was just my understanding that when launching the car there was pretty much no choice but dump it.

it also seems like it is real snatchy when shifting gears. I mean is it hard to drive the car easy with this clutch? Just trying to figure out if it's right for me or not?

Thanks

Mine is very smooth and manageable on the street under normal driving. But if you want to get aggressive and bang some gears the clutch bites hard and can hurt 10 bolts. If your doing 4500K clutch dumps on slicks, the ST will kill 12 bolts from time to time. I have blown up my 12 bolt 5 times at the track over the last 2 years. I bracket race every Sunday and launch a 4500 on Hoosier QT pros and the repeated abuse takes is toll after while.

yeah i dayly drive w/ the ST, I really found it no different from my spec stage III during street driving. It shifts nice and smooth as long as your not dropping the clutch. But with a 10 bolt I would not reccomend any racing.
