How hard is it to change your automatic shifter
Re: How hard is it to change your automatic shifter
Fairly easy to install it, much harder if not damn near impossible to get it to work with the computer.
Its the step on brake to shift out of park and the little black box that make it so difficult.
I wish someone would come up with an easy way to install a quarterstick or something like it but so far no one has stepped up to the plate.
I put a B&M megashifter in my 88 IROC and it never did work exactly right, I was the only one who could work it.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I am going to buy a B&M Megashifter for my 93 z28 a4 (700R4). I'm just curious if it will work as intended for the third gen's since it is still a 700 and not the electronic 4L60. Has anyone done this on a 93? I hope this isn't going to be a huge PITA!
Mounting it will be the hardest part. And getting your console to look good around it. I cut my console in half and just use the back half.
Don't ask it looks awful but works for me.
I have a B&M pro stick in my 94 but its hooked to a TH400.
I got rid of the step on brake to shift from park cable and wired the neutral safety switch direct.
The little black box turned out not to be so bad its just the neutral safety switch and your back up lights and one other thing I can't think of right off the top of my head.
