how do you know when motor mounts are worn?

Like the title says, how do you know they are worn? Also, who sells them and does anyone have a guide to know how to change them?

In first gear, I don't have to get it on it hard at all and the shifter will move about an inch to the right. How do I check from under the car?
Thanks

no way to really "check"....

if the engine moves that much...they could use to be replaced.

most of the vendors sell the mounts, just look for the prothan products. i think i got mine from BMR.

the installation is pretty straight forward, the hard part it getting the mounts out from the engine bay. it's a VERY cramped space. other than that its 4 bolts on the cross member, and 4 on the block.

my engine barely moves 1/4" in the engine bay under load with the mounts.

if you have a lot of vibration at idle, is a good way to know your mounts are bad. i bought a replacement set of poly mounts from WS6Store.com for like $50 ... havent put them in yet. gonna do headers and put them in while the manifolds are off this week.
