You may have to unbolt the brake master cylinder and booster to get enough room . I had them moved out of the way (slightly) when I installed the master cyl. while doing my A4 --> M6 swap ... I know it's not easy!!

just to make sure, I am pretty sure you did it, but You unbolted it from the break pedal right? Sometimes it happens, ya never know. other than that yea, unbolting the thing ... Oh wait. the master syl. Yea you have to unbolt it from the booster. should be 2 bolts if I remember right. one on the top and one on the bottom of the master cyl that goes into the booster

The clutch master cylinder can be removed without loosening the brake reservoir. There is a U-shaped bolt with 2 nuts holding the master cylinder to the firewall. The 2 nuts are removed from the interior of the firewall.

Dont give up man. I did the same thing in my car about 3 months ago. Your going to move that big wire loom out of the way in the engine bay behind the brake booster. Its going to be one of those things your going to have to figure out the best way for you to do it.
