How do I take tranny down to get to clutch fork?
Re: How do I take tranny down to get to clutch fork?
So whats the problem exactly? The clutch fork is making noise? Anyway your prolly gonna need to drop it to get to the bolt so you need to unbolt the torque arm and driveshaft. Then unbolt the bell housing, this is gonna be a pain in the *** to get to the top bolts, you will need about 3 feet of etensions ans a swivel joint. After you get it unbolted it wil pull back a few inches, reach in and pull the shift fork off of the throw out bearing. It will be kinda hard but it will pop off so you can slide it back further and drop it down. I did my clutch job on jackstands with a $20 floor jack by myself, so it can be done

Remove the slave cylinder and you'll have access to the end of the clutch fork. Pull the clutch fork out away from the throw out bearing before unbolting the tranny. Be sure to add loctite to the bolt that holds the clutch fork otherwise it will vibrate out later (I found out the hard way). You'll also need to unbolt your shifter from the top of the tranny also, it can be unbolted from under the car, but it's probably easier to remove the console and take it out the top.

Yea, to get to the bolt you really need to drop the trany, u can get to it with the input shaft still in the clutch but there is not much room to work.
