How do I know when its time for a clutch?

This may sound like a dumb question but...
I just have gotten a 2000 Z28 with 48k miles on it. I know clutches can pretty much go at any point, but the warranty on my car is up in 3 months...
For the most part it seems OK, gives me a hard time shifting into first on occasion, never any grinding though...
So how do you know when its getting to be clutch time?

When the clutch starts to slip. It will usually do this at higher rpms. Meaning you slam on it, and the rpms go up faster than the car normally accelerates. it sort of feels like you are spinning the tires when you are not.
