How To Convert 1994 Camaro Z28 Into A 6 Speed
Re: How To Convert 1994 Camaro Z28 Into A 6 Speed
The swap isn't terribly hard, as long as you do your homework. Swap took me about 18 hours (over 2 days, installed headers as well while i was in there) on jackstands. I worked off of the link posted above, and aside from the A/T harness i have tucked up, the portion of auto cable hole leftover, and RPO's, you'd be hard pressed to tell it was originally an auto. Just take your time, use the search feature here for any questions that may arise, and read, read, and read again. Print it out if possible, and dig in.. Good Luck

I'd keep the auto. I did the swap several years ago and now wished that I hadn't. Granted I only put 25 miles on the car after doing the swap before the opti died on me. It's a lot of time and money for something you might not like. I prefer to drag race and everyone knows the auto is faster/more consistant. Sure you'll have the big number to put up on the dyno with the manual but who cares if you can't 60ft to save your life. Not only that you'll be replacing rear ends, driveshafts, clutches like they're going out of style. Idk maybe I'll change my mind once I get some more seat time in the car this summer but I should've built the 4l60e or stuck a th350/t-brake in there instead.

I like to drive and enjoy my car. Who gives a **** what it puts down in the quarter or on the dyno if you don't enjoy it every time you get behind the wheel. Nothing wrong with an auto or manual, just comes down to personal preference.

Someone who prefers winning races over creature comforts. Sorta function over form. Shoot, there's guys out there running Lenco's on the street. You are correct though it's all about what you prefer.
