I did the conversion in my 94. Pics in sig. Cost $1500 to $3000 depending if you just buy a used setup and install it or do a complete rebuild with upgrades along with a new clutch and flywheel.

I spent around $3500, but I also bought a lot of new parts, a fully rebuilt T56 ($2000 alone), new clutch, new hydraulics, short shifter, etc. It drives just like a stocker would. Took me 2 solid days of work with a lift. Definitely my most favorite mod. But I'm sure if you settle for a used tranny and other used parts you can come in well under $2000. I've seen the entire kits on this site and ebay go for a pretty good price.

Look here: http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=821133

An automatic is a "downside"? Why?

If you know you want a 6-speed, why not just wait and buy one that is already equiped with one? It would be alot cheaper.

I dont agree with this. I took me FOREVER to find a descent 6 speed fbody that hadnt had it's **** rocked. The swamp shouldnt be too hard, you can find used t56's for sub 1000 that will still outlast the car.

I agree that you can find a used T56 for under $1000. However, that is only one of the many components necessary to complete the conversion. I properly done conversion usually costs atleast $2000. Those that claim it only costs $1000 - $1500 for the swap are either not adding up all the money they spent, or failing to mention they had to replace components in the package they bought only months after installing it.

You will also need to rewire the PCM harness to accept the connections for the M6 trans.
