wELL GUYS FOUND THIS WHEN WE OPENED MY BOTHERS REAR END ON HIS 2002 Z28. HOW BAD IS THIS?

It's OK. Z28s have a Auburn limited slip which is an steel to steel cone clutch and as the cones' spiral grooves wear,which is natural,the metal goes into suspension in the gear lube and eventually get collected by the magnet.That picture shows a very minor amount compared to the large amounts that i've seen/encountered.If you're concerned,change the fluid periodically to keep the fluid slurry of metal particals from acting upon the bearings and races.

As long as it's mostly a "paste" consistancy, and it's not large "chunks", then everything appears totally normal .
