Holding 1st until 4000?
Holding 1st until 4000?
Was talking to a friend at work and he said his 700 is doing this on his '93. I told him to test his solinods and forgot that the '93s were electronic. It started when it was cold out lately, single digits. He said it had done it winters before, but not it is becoming common. He doesn't know if it has ever been flushed with all of its 130k mile glory. I suggested that and a filter change. He is worried about the tranny going out completely after he has done this though. A few questions,
1) Are the 700s the same in the TPI cars as they are in the '93s?
2) Anyone think it might not be dirty fluid/filter causing the problem?
3) Has anyone had any problems with a flush?
I know my dad doesn't believe in it. He did it to his '86 Celebrity and the trany went not to longer after. I'm not to worried about it since a few people in my auto tranny class said they have never seen that happen.
thanks
Jermey

Re: Holding 1st until 4000?
The 93's have the 700R4 or some people call it the 4L60. Not to be confused with the 4L60E which is computer controlled. The 700R4 is in no way controlled electronically. The only thing the computer can control it TCC lockup. The 700R4 still has a kickdown cable on the throttle body.
