Hitting stock rev limiter sometimes with my 2800 vigilante now!!

I seem to be hitting my stock rev limiter with my viglante now.I have a hypertech and can raise rev limiter or play with shift points. What should I set it to? Anyone else have this problem .My car is 96 z28 thought only problems with obd1 and stall converters.

Thats really weird usually like you said it only happens to OBD1 cars, are you the original owner? maybe the past owner did an OBD1 swap for the mods??

does it go into Limp mode until you turn off and restart the car?

The car was stock when I got it .I put in all the mods. The car shifting normally a few day ago ,just put in the stall. I realize you can hit the limiter from wheelspin in first but thought it did this the other day going into third .Have to check again.
I doubt I have obd1.
I have heard you need to set the shift points and maybe rev limit a bit different when you have a stall. I have 3.42 gears and a 2800 vig.I have hypertech so can play with shift points and rev limit.Looks like may have to do that.

That or when my trans was about to die last fall it would just rev up to the limiter with out shifting until I took my foot off of the gas, 2 races later it went sky high, i hope for u that its just the adjustments you mentioned.

Re: Hitting stock rev limiter sometimes with my 2800 vigilante now!!

I bumped my limiter to 6200 don't think thats too dangerous and took my 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 shift down negative 1 or from 5700 to 5600 or something have to look in my hpp booklet. That seems to have done the trick.Never hit it and did try to and put it thru some quartermiles on my tazzo. I got a 14.3 at 99.9mph with a 2.49 or something 60ft on my 235 cooper cobras.
My mph seems a few down but thats likely due to the stall.I tried a few more 60fts ,my tazzo does that feature and best was a 2.3 so far.Have to relearn my launch with the new stall or you just blow them off. Or get some nittos.I have some old bfg to try at the track. And buddy has new et street radials mabye try them for a run or two.
My current mods are 96z28 vert around 3800 race weight.I weigh like 220.Car 3615 full tank of fuel a week or two ago with me out.
I have magnaflow catback,g2 induction,airfoil,tb bypass,asp underdrive balancer,3.42 gears,2800 vigilante.hpp tuning out and maft not connected.
Also our local track is 1900 feet.Best last year was 14.3 at 95mph with a 2.18 60ft on nittos that had last year but sold off due to they were flatspotted.
I have zex wet nitrous not installed yet and a comp 305 not installed with some 1.6 pro mags not installed. Planning to wait until next year ,buy some mac headers and some lloyd heads and then do all that at once.Might put the spray on if my tranny is good.I don't think its shot it hasn't slipped previous to the stall.
I have some fuel problem I think now and have to mabye get a new fuel pump.
Anyway so far the raise in rev limit and lowering the shift point seems to have
done the trick.I put in 10 quarts amsoil atf and a big tranny cooler also when did the vig.Cross my fingers that my tranny is ok.If not well have to get a built one next time like you did . I have a window switch coming for the spray.
You have some good times there 94..no cam or headers..just what you got in there for mods..?
What altitude track..?
I am hoping to hit a 13.5 with my new 2800 and underdrive balancer and
those bfg or buddies et streets. Think its doable if I sort out my fuel problem.
It get low o2 sometimes and quite a bit of knock.

I know what you mean about relearning to launch your car! lol I just installed my 3200 stall about a month ago and man street tires are completely useless even from a roll!,

you should be able o cut a 13.5 easily, let me know what happens!

Gary.
