Im pretty sure its when you stall above 3k or so and then the comp gets all screwed up and wont shift into 2nd untill you let off the gas. It only happens to some people...it never happened to mine and i think it can now be fixed with tuning.

I read on madz.com that he could fix it with tuning but only on some cars. The only other solution is to go obd2. Will it not go into 2nd at all or will it pause before going into second and try to hold 1st?

My understanding is that it won't go into second at all until you back off the gas.

When I got my 3500 stall I had this problem, and Bryan @ pcmforless was able to fix it for me... In my case it didn't do it all the time, only at the track if I launch the car well, bad launch or street launching didn't do it. It didn't go into 2, and bounced off the rev limiter, let off the gas and all was fine, but that didn't help my ET's. Bryan had it fixed in no time, and it is cheep I had hime do a full tune while there and it was great...

Re: High stall obd1 problem

At the time nobody really had a fix for this issue. So the only fix for it was go obd2 which was out of the question or Go 6-speed. As you can see in the sig I swapped to a t56. One of the best mods Ive doen to the car.
