1994 A4 Pause
1994 A4 Pause
I noticed now after getting the shift kit, Transgo that now between shifts (I'm sure 2-3) it pauses then hooks and goes. I'm not sure if it does it 1-2 but pauses like that can caust you a race. What do you think it is? I was told the tranny may be on it's way out. If so Im going to be very upset.
Re: 1994 A4 Pause
Could it be because I'm using a 3500 torque converter with no tranny cooler? I'm thinking mabey the fluid is getting to hot allowing slippage or something? Am I off track? I'm just hoping it's something simple. If not I guess Ill be buying a rebuild kit from summit.
Re: 1994 A4 Pause
I've felt like the shifts have all been different in my car since I installed a shift kit last year (B&M for what it's worth). I don't know if there's actually anything wrong or not, but I've been kinda leary about the whole thing now
. I can't tell you one way or the other whether your tranny is on its way out, but I'm in the same boat as you are ..... questioning the condition of the tranny after doing a kit

Re: 1994 A4 Pause
My Trango scares me. It sits in the corner of my room and at night I'll wake up and see it staring at me. I think its just waiting for me to put it in, and it will blow my transmission.
Honestly I am also very worried about even putting one it. Some folks do it and it works fine, some do and it dies. But my tranny has been "slipping" if you will on the 2-3 shift, but it only does it once when its cold. I already threw a Supercooler on there for insurance.

You never want to run a converter that high in a 60e without a cooler, never, especially on the street...
You don't want a rebuild kit from summit unless you want to have a blown tranny to deal with again. Dont get me wrong summit has some good stuff, I get a lot of things from there, but you don't want a stock replacment rebuild in these trannies, they are crap...
They are many good builders on this site and any one of them could help you out, and a lot of them will tell you just how hard a good tranny build is to do yourself.
I sugest you get a cooler before more damage is done, and then talk to a few of the builders here and see what they can do to help you out because heat kills a tranny and your 3500 stall produces a lot of it...
