Re: high rpm 1st to 2nd shift grind

Sometimes it would shift fine. After a couple months it got worse and worse so I started just shifting from 1st to 3rd. Here is the man to e-mail rpmtransmissions@insightbb.com His name is Rodney Massengale. Located in New Castle, Indiana

Hey guys, sorry to dig up an old thread...but I did some searching and this seems to be the closest I can find to my problem. If I do a very fast 1-2 shift it will grind...I'm thinking it could be my clutch also not disengaging fast enough. But sometimes it will also grind when starting off in 1st gear from a stop light...it seems like the slower I release the clutch the more likely it is to grind. If I dump the clutch and launch it a little from a dig it catches just fine, no grind. From a high rpm 1-2 shift, if I shift it slower it will not grind, just a fast shift will make it do so. So is it most likely my clutch? 105k on the tranny, previous owner said about 30k on clutch when I bought it...so 35k now approximately. But he also said he changed the opti, and it crapped out on me last fall So I don't put much faith in what he told me. (always ask for receipts!!)

That or crapped out blocker rings, I talked to a guy I bought my Rex from and he apparently rebuilds t56's, Jennings engineering or something, and he showed me what synchros and blocker rings were, basically told me it was most likely worn out blocker rings if it was in fact the tranny's fault.
