help with z pack install

I'm installing a 3-4 z pack in a 4L60-e and only have .038" clearance. .050-.070 is specified in the instructions that came with the z pack. Do any of you guys know if raybestos offers thinner 3-4 pressure plates to use with the z pack? Is there another simple solution?

Thanks

There are no steeles in a z pack set up. The disks are one sided. Friction on one side, steel on the other. It also comes with it's own apply and pressure plates. I haven't found different thickness plates anywhere.

For performance use we have had good luck at .020 to .030 and if you use the stock plate in place of the one raybestos provides ussally thats what you end up at .

Sorry for the Zombie thread, but I am rebuilding a tranny for a buddy.

He bought the zPak kit.
After installing it, I have .060" clearance.

I usually like to run .025-.030" with conventional clutches & plates.

Installing that secondary steel plate that goes between the top clutch plate and backing plate brought me down to .010". That makes sense, since it is .050" thick.

So you haven't had a problem installing a thicker backing plate and running the clearance at .025-.030? Daily driven fbody, not a drag car.

Thanks
