Help!TRANSMISSION CONVERSION
Help!TRANSMISSION CONVERSION
I have a chance to buy a 94 Lt1/6speed in near mint ,never-raced,unmodified condition for a LOW price. It has only 46,000 easy miles on it and is always garage kept.
My problem,,,, I have a horrible left knee.
Do any of you know of a place that would do a 4speed auto conversion(i don't care if its a 700/200 r4 even)? I live north of Detroit.
Any guesses on a price????
Thanks <JOHN

you dont need much, esp. livin up north. you can run an external oil cooler so you dont need the radiator. You can fab your own cooler lines with tubing bender bought at sears and some brass unions if needed. You need the crossmember, the driveshaft is the same. As far as controlling the 4l60e unit, you just need the harness and a PCM from an auto. I believe you may even be able to have the PCM flashed for an auto instead. You'll need a flexplate, which is cheap on ebay, I have about 3 of them laying around. The center console can be had on ebay cheap as well and the shifter you can get from any boneyard, maybe even with a console, or ebay again. The cable can be bought anywhere, but you might salvage one from the junkyard or ebay as well. That about covers it, minus pulling your clutch pedal out. You could also go the easy route and keep your pcm/harness the same, and put a 7004r in it. You just need the t.v. cable and bracket to connect it to the throttle body. As far as the transmission itself goes, give me a hollar on what yer looking to do with it and I might be able to help you out.
