Help with a rear axle squeek...

I'm sure I'm not the only one on here with this sound. When I go around 90 degree corners quickly, (not very fast, just a little sharp), I hear a very short high pitched squeel. It's only on sharp turns and in both directions. It almost sounds like a bearing thats going bad. Or something that's very close in tolerances, and that it's dragging on something when the tolerance gets closed up by the sharp turn/body roll. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help. Jason

Could be you need some limited slip additive. Use the GM stuff only.

God I hope not. I had the fluid changed a couple years ago by Jiffy Lube. I hope they remembered it. It's only had a few thousand miles on it since then. Sounds like a bearing squeel though...

Thanks shoebox, and great pic. Got three shoeboxes myself! Two '56s and a '57.

Yeah, I noticed your sig.

Some other noises it might make if it needed limited slip additive would be moans, growls, snapping, popping...when making tight turns. Additives other than the GM stuff do not always work as well. You can just add it in to what you have. No need to drain and refill.

I had this happen when the brake pad clips were hitting the wheels because they were out of position.
