Help diagnose 4l60e problem

lt1 w/ a 4l60e. ~140k miles and was pretty close to needing a rebuild but has been fine for daily driving.

Car has just started shifting VERY hard in every gear, especially from a stop into reverse/1st. Started suddenly. Scanmaster gave a Diagnostic Trouble Code of 82 which is "Transmission 1-2 shift solenoid circuit." Fluid level and color is fine. Feels like the trans has just jacked the line pressure wayyy up.

Do these symptoms agree with what the scanmaster is saying?

Any suggestions other than to remove the solenoid and check to see if it's clean?

Hi The code 82 is a shift solenoid circuit fault and electrical failure , Though it could be the plug or harness its most likely the solenoid itself , I would replace the 1-2 shift solenoid (shift solenoid A). Now on the matter of the sudden harsh shift I would go ahead and replace the PCS (pressure control solenoid) while I was in there since this solenoid can cause high line yet not always set a code.
Hope this helps of course with that many miles your correct in that your probably soon to be in the market for a trans ,
Thanks

Where can I buy these parts?

Do you know of any 4l60e diagrams so I know what to look for?

E-mail me directly at cahallperformancetransmissions@yahoo.com , and I'll hook you up with a place to buy the solenoid and I'll send you a diagram.

Got the shift solenoid but not the PCS as it was ~120 and I just didn't feel like spending that on something that might help.

I'll put putting it in tomorrow. Thanks for your assistance.

So, I drove to napa this morning to buy a filter and then on my way back the problem went away and everything was normal...

I ended up washing the car and after it cooled down I started it back up to see if it was still gone but, it had returned.

Any idea why this problem is coming and going? Is this normal for a messed up shift solenoid?

well the solenoid would still be highly suspect but you may try this first ,
unplug and plug in the harness on the passengers side on transmission just above the pan rail in case theres a conection issue corroded terminals ect , Then try it again
