HELP! Clutch torn to pieces...
Latley I have been habing many irritating problems with my 93z. The latest was having my clutch literally brake apart. (Brand new clutch, maybe 5000miles on it). This damaged the housing, I was wondering if anybody has ever had this happen to them?
ANy suggestions on where to get a new housing, pref. online, as I am currently broke down in mexico!

Stock clutch, car is setup with Vortec SC 10lb, water injection, superfueler etc.. aprox 390hp,
The engine had just got put back together from replacement of cam sprigs and seats/seals as they also broke apart an were causing oil consumption, ripped the rest og the engine apart cheching to make sure there were no other problems, (except the clutch) and all else was OK, not too bad for 35k supercharged and really driving hard, all my problems started after it was put back together.

On a stock engine?
First off you need to lower your engines compression ratio otherwise you'll forever have problems like "springs and seats/seals " Your car has a 10:5:1 compression ratio..10lbs on that is like poking a baloon with a pin. You atleast want to have a 9 to 1 compression ratio... 10lbs GEEZ
You should look into having your heads ported, polished, and decked.
If I recall 4-6Psi is the most a stock engine can handle without running into major problems.
Your stock clutch shatterend because it's not meant to hold up to that kind of power. I belive it's reccomended up to 300hp or something. You need a stage 2 Clutch or stage 3 Clutch with that kind of power.
Trust me...your making more than 390hp

I think it would be more akin to hooking up the baloon to a leaf blower. POP!!
I agree, 10 PSI is a bit much on a set of stock pistons, but with the water injection it is possible with good gas and proper tuning. I wouldn't want to try it, but it is possible. Although, on 10 PSI of boost, you should be seeing alot more than 390hp unless you're just getting alot of blow by which is probably what killed your seals.
It sounds like your clutch might not have been aligned right if it came apart and damaged the housing. Now is a good time to upgrade to a good kevlar unit or a street twin. I would also check the input shaft on the transmission and make sure your rearmain is ok. The only place I can think of to get a bellhousing would be a GM dealer, or I think McCleod makes one, but that will probably be more expensive.

Sorry I din[t go into the specs of my engine, I've always been meaning to get a signiture up, never get around to it.

All the mods were done at 18k, now going on 65k, only problem has been the valve springs, I was told that my rings were like new, saw them myself, couldn[t believe it, I guess I can give thanks to water injection...
I'm just finishing med school, anda have lots of bills to pay off, just hope this doesn\t geto too expensive, cause I'm really in a hole right now. Anyone one have any idea how much for the bellhousing?

If it only lasted 500 miles on a brand new clutch, something probably wasn't straight. Were you just driving normally with the car since the clutch was installed or were you getting into the gas really hard? Honestly, you're supposed to take it kinda easy to let the clutch break in good, if you hot dogged it with your setup that could also cause premature failure. 10 PSI of boost sounds a little better with forged 9:1 pistons. I'm not sure where you're going to find a bellhousing for a T56 other than at a dealer a transmission shop that can get one.
I guess I was kinda hard on the clutch first off, as I had noticed that I wasn[t making 10lbs of boost and made a fewruns trying to figure out why.. upsss!!!
And just as a follow up, I ordered a new bellhousing from GMPartsDirect for a total of about 220 shipped...

The stock clutch is normally good to 320 or so rwhp...if you're running 10psi of boost you should be above 400 pretty dang easy if you built the rest of it right. Stock clutch is broken because its not meant for near that kinda of power/abuse.
