hey whats up everyone, im looking to putin a turbo 350 trans in my 94z. my 4l60 is starting to take a **** again on me. im runing a 383 stroker n i wanna spray a 150 shot so i looking for a trans thats strong enough. i found some sites that sell them but i dont know which one to get for my car. the car is no long a daily driver but i do know i 4 gears so if i do some crusing around i can do it without being at 4k. im runing 373s in the rear. im looking to go with a new rear set up too. so which do you guys recomend. im stuck between the 9inch n the 12 bolt..

The TH350 is a 3 speed trans, So you will not have 4 hears with it and a TH350 is not alot stronger than a 4L60E if your totally intent on not doing a 60e or getting a built one perhaps and want 4 gears your options are 4l80e or th400 with the gear vendors overdrive, But a Properly built 4L60E should hold at that power level. We have cars running low tens and DYNO at 600 rwhp running them without issue
We have 4L60E cars running 9.7's @ 144 MPH . Cars pulling high 1.3 60ft. times. The TH350 will cost you on both ends. You'll 60 ft. better with a 4L60E, because of it's superior 3.08 low gear, and many of our units use 4th gear in the quarter mile. You can go more aggressive with the final drive ratio with a 4L60E. Ask Chad @ Golen about our 4L60E's. We've built a few for them, as well as many for thier customers cars.
Think about other issues with the TH350. How do you work your speedometer? Where do you mount your torque arm? What crossmember do you use? Yes, there are ways to put a TH350 in a 4th gen, but the swap kit TO DO IT RIGHT is pretty expensive.

Though I will indeed say that frank at CPT builds and excellent unit , I would not go far as to say the ONLY unit that can do the job, Though I state that we have cars in the low tens. This is because they are the only ones who can prove it with video. There are several guys claiming lower.
thanks for the info guys. see i am kinda fed up with the 4l60e. i have replaced it a few times in my car.. but i do like how it drives. heres the tranny i have in there now.

i have the there street evil kit. and im runing a vig 2800 stall. i have been running this trans for bout 3 years now. and i have only 11 passes at the track on it. n 0 of the passes have been on sticky tires.
it shifts slopy driving it every day n it hangs up in the top of the gears n shifts lame. so i duno whats going on.
but i do intend on sprayin a 150 shot so what do you guys got that can hold n not break. like i can i see some opitions.. price is really to much of a problem if its worth the money.. thanks

Well if the shifts have just recently become sloppy after three years. I would consider first pulling the pan and if theres not material in there replace the Presure control solenoid and see what that does. You may just have low line from a failure there. Now do bear inmind at lower throttle below stall speed the shifts will give the impression of being weak even though they are not since the converter will absorb some of the shock feel of the shift.

WOW. That's a pretty steep price for what they're offering in that package. We get less money ($1400) for our top of the line "Pro Race" build than they charge for a "bargain basement" build.I don't see any of their builds that I'd feel comfortable putting behind a nitrous application. Too many parts that are proven to be weak areas. Please don't blame the "song", It looks as if it's really the "singer".
You should really consider getting the '60E built by someone who knows what they're doing, before wanting to blame the transmission . I can guarantee, I can make a 4L60E make the car run better, and last just as long as any TH350 you'll put in it.
