Unhappy Hard shifting and No OD.

Hello guys,

FIRst let me tell you guys what is happening........

It seems like my car doesnt want to go into 4th geard or OD. Even on the highway it slowly climbrs trhough the rpm's. but theres no Od and the shifts sometimes seem a little hard.

Also when I let off the gas on the highway lets say @ 70mph
It doesnt "Coast". What I mean is that the rpms just completely drop!!!!!!

Also when Im in D @ Like 70 mph Im at Like 2700 RPMS!!!!!!
i remember it used to not even be at 2k rpms before this started happening....

Anyone out there know an answer to this????
do I need a rebuild or can it be maybe a solenoid or
the TCC SOLENOID.

Im lost here

Someone pleaase help me!!!!!!!!

This sounds fairly similar to my problem. My car doesn't have 1st or 4th gears. Upon using freescan, my car has a constant code 82 stored in the PCM. This translates to a Solenoid malfunction. If you have an easy way to scan your car you should do so, it may keep you from having to guess.

Ya the selonoid is a TCC selonoid, Torque Converter Control. It controls lockup (Overdrive) in your Converter.

Most trans shops don't charge for check I know Aamco does a free diagonostic check, they hook it up to a machine with the trans in the car and pressure check your clutch packs. The selonoid is under the pan and bolts into the housing that the torque converter locks into. A dealership wanted to charge me $300.00 but any trans shop should be able to replace it. I sugest having the trans presure checked first.
