Grinds going into first??

Ok, heres the story. I went and looked at a 99 SS with an intake, cam, and a bunch of other goodies. They guy told me that he rebuilt the trans with bettery syncros, and shift forks. After he got the trans back together, it grinds going into first. If you go into second, or any other gear before first, it will engauge smoothly. Sounds like a syncro problem, what would you guys do. The car has 66K and hes askin 12K firm. The rest of the car is solid.

A low clutch will also cause this problem, but the clutch was replaced with the rebuild. Ive never rebuilt a manual trans, but I was thinking maybe a syncro ring was installed wrong. Maybe its backwards or something??
