I just bought a 97 SS six-speed and the only problem I really noticed with it other than minor crap is that it will grind when downshifting into 1st. The car does have 4'10's in the rear and don't know if that plays any effect on it.

My 94 also has a T-56 but has a stock rear and doesn't do this. In my 97 It only happens while coming to a stop and I try to put it into 1st while the car is still rolling. It will go in fine when I am either at a stop or rolling at a real slow speed.

I know with my 94 It would go in first no matter what speed I was going, I could do that and use engine breaking to slow down. This one won't have any of that, but every other gear works fine.
