Good T56 Rebuilder

Hey guys,

Does anyone know of a good T56 rebuilder around? Pref. on the west coast, but does not have to be. I live in Canada and would have to ship it anyway.

Trans needs an input shaft and a rebuild. Needs a good checkup first.

Thanks,

Igor.

Just do it yourself.....well, you should probably wait to see if mine blows up on me, along with my garage built 355

www.T56rebuilds.com is a great company, very helpful.

I would like to! That's actually probably my best bet. I was under the impression that you need a special puller to get this thing appart. If so, who has one I can buy?

I've rebuilt many motors and a T5 before, should be able to do it and save huge on shipping.

Any DIY guys have a tip for a good rebuild manual and what tools are needed?

Thanks.

I was at the track last night and I heard a funny grinding noise coming from the trans....I have a feeling before long I'll be lookin for a rebuild as well. Have you gotten any qoutes on a T-56 rebuild?

No, none..

I'd like to pull it appart myself first and see if its totally done. Tranny worked great but the car got into an accident (not sure how exactly, wasn't in it) and it broke the clutch disk, bellhousing and the input shaft tip. Otherwise turns fine in every gear, but stil would like to look inside before I spend any money on it

Re: Good T56 Rebuilder

You can download the Tremec T56 manual at T56rebuilds.com in a pdf file.

A hydraulic machine press makes getting the gears/bearings off a lot easier...but with a little creativity you can do it yourself. I built a sturdy tower out of wood that allowed me to use a bearing splitter and pull gears by suspending the mainshaft and beating it with a mallet .

It's really about how much you trust yourself to put it back together. When I go through with my micrometer and see that all is within .002" tolerances, I'll know I did a good job.

My currently experienced $.02

He is a small place, but does real nice work. He did my t-56 up with a viper output shaft, upgraded forks, and carbon kevlar syncros. I never thought the t-56 could be that smooth .
