Good LT1 Clutch Disc?

I'm looking for a good clutch disc. I'm going to be using the pressure plate I got off eBay. I was looking at the Center Force disc, but wanted ya'lls opinion. Would would be the best way to go for about 400hp mainly street?

Have one in the mail. Is there any kind of break-in period for it?

Drive it nice for 500 miles of stop/go before you beat on it.

500mi or 40 normal stop and go's its the normal take offs that break it in it wont be anymore broke in if you hop out on the highway for 500mi then it will driving around town for 15min... a day or two of running around town should do it

Call me crazy but the McLeod Street Twin. It's not to much more expensive then a Spec 3 and flywheel. And the manners are incredible. I have 430/415rwhp and I can take off up hill in cold rain and not spin the tires.

Re: Good LT1 Clutch Disc?

So I do have to just break in the disc it self? I've had the rest of the clutch for about 3kmiles already. All I'm getting is the disc it self.

Re: Good LT1 Clutch Disc?

Break in is basically for the disc since contact and friction for power transfer through the rest of the driveline is through that piece. Virtually all wear is in the disc due to it being a heavily wearing piece unlike the PP and FW. So you want it to wear correctly. Make sure the FW and PP are true also. 300-400 miles of break in should do it. Thats how I did mine.

Re: Good LT1 Clutch Disc?

You should be able to tell when its broken in by feel too, mine kept getting grabbier and grabbier. Once it starts chattering a little on takeoff it should be broken in...

Re: Good LT1 Clutch Disc?

Ok we got it in but it is real hard to shift. It grabs almost right at the floor. If you pump the clutch a couple of times before you go into first its a little easier but still hard. Whats goin on here?

Drive it around town in stop/go, the engagement will move up pretty quick once you start breaking it in. I have an adjustable master cylinder, and mine was engaging right off teh floor when I first put it in, now its right at the top...

Re: Good LT1 Clutch Disc?

my mcleod single disc is junk first i had to pull the tranny after i was all done to shorten the clutch fork fulcrum (the little t-bar that holds the fork to the trans) b/c the fork was contacting the pp and clutch wasn't disengaging now clutch isn't disengaging still. I decided to break it in and see if it gets any better ( only problem is getting it into reverse) well after driving around a little bit it's no better and the other day i slapped it into 3rd and the POS slipped GOOD LUCK with yours
