Since you are not going to be doing much drag racing then I would recommend going with some 3.42 s

Ditto. I had 3.73's earlier this year, and for daily driving / highway driving, they were a little too much gear IMO. My buddy has 3.42's in his '96 T/A (A4) and they work nice.

My 94 Z is my daily driver and I currently have a TH400 and 4.10 combo. To be quite honest, it sucks as a daily driver combo. I have to avoid long highway driving stints and when I do, it's at ~55mph and 3200rpms. Last weekend, I also found out that it wasn't the best drag racing combo either because we bounced off the rev limiter in high gear before crossing the finish line.
Since I want to be able to drive on the highway, I'll probably go with a 3.42 (or Ford 9" equivalent) for next year.
My son also has a 94Z, but his had an A4 in it. He switched from a 2.73 to a 3.73 and was very happy with the change. His ET's dropped by about a 1/2 sec and he was still able to cruise on the highway (OD sure comes in handy). Unfortunately, his 4L60Es didn't perform well at the track, so he's dropping a TH400 in his car over the winter. So, next year, both of us can cruise the highway at 55mph (unless I find a tow vehicle/winter beater ).

Wow 1/2 second is alot. By the way nice time at the track. I am sure that your will hook better at a track like Norwalk. Just curious what kind of numbers did your car put down?

3.42's and a TH400 (1:1 high gear) are good up to about 70-75mph on the highway. I am going to add a GV OD unit when $$$ permits.

Another vote for 3.42s. That should give you a nice boost without being outlandish. However, I'd say 3.73s would also be ok, but I guess it depends on how much highway driving you do. I plan to put 4.10s in my car after Christmas, but it's ok since I just drive it around town.

I meant hp numbers. Not trying to start anything but Lapeer is a bad track to get accurate numbers. I have heard that the right lane is 6-7mph fast. Just wondering if you knew that. From what I remember your car has great torque down low.

No problem. Let's see, I have the printout here somewhere.......

Max HP : 345.7 @6000
Max Torq: 333.2 @5000

Curve starts at: 210hp @ 4000 ~250ftlb
300hp @ 4700 ~330ftlb
~310hp @ 5000 ~330ftlb
~320hp @ 6500 ~270ftlb

My first run was in the left lane: 114.00
Sean's run was in the right lane:115.69
My last run was in the right lane:113.96

How will 3.42's or 3.73's affect the top speed?

It'll stop me from smacking the rev limiter before the end of the 1/4 for one thing. That can't hurt.

If you do quite a bit of highway driveing and not much drag racing i would just get the 3.42. If its the oppisite or you just drive mainly in town then get the 3.73.
