Gears in rear end

Is there anyway to find out what kind of gears I have without opening up my rear end? My tuner says the pcm was previously tuned for 2.73 gears and I wanted to be 100% sure before he sends it off to me. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Guys

Put the car up on jackstands and count the number of driveshaft turns versus wheel turns.

If they are factory, check the RPO codes.

GU2 - 2.73s
GU5 - 3.23s.

unfortunately I don't have many tools at the moment and can't get ahold of any jackstands. Alot of work was done to the car before I got it, and I'm still trying to find out more about it. The guy thats tuning the pcm said it was tuned for 2.73 gears.

look at the code in the glove box, the white sticker with all the 3 digit number and letter codes, check for either of the two that RamAir95TA listed and it will tell you.

Ok well the code in the box is 2.73 and I just heard from the previous Owner who said that as far as he can remember they are stock. The tuner said He was suprised the guy that built the car didn't upgrade the fuel injectors to 30lb/hr when he put the cc306 cam in it , but he left those alone too. thanks RamAir and 96SS

Wrong forum. LT1 Based Engine Tech is only for "engine" topics.

Moving to "Drivetrain.
