gears for 6 speed?

ok , I have been converted from Ford to Chevy, I sold my 94 GT vert and recently bought a '94 Z 28 w/ a 6 speed. the car is stock but over the winter I paln on doing extensive mods. I plan on being in the mid 400 hp range was wondering what gears does everyone run with this trans. I just became a member and will be going through alot of how to's over the winter. by the way do the Z's computers freak out with major mods like the Fords do?

thx ,

If you are planning on making the motor have that much power, then I would suggest looking at getting a different rearend setup like a 12bolt or 9inch. The stock 10bolts don't like that much power espeacially when you have a mannual transmission.

from what i have seen 4.10's are popular with a m6, if you plan on 400+hp, you will have to get your computer done for best results. lots of people do a mail order tune from either www.pcmforless.com or from madz28. although, a dyno tune would be the best.

Listen to this guy. And get either 4.10 or 4.11 with the new rearend.

Actually it depends...power adder or NA? If you're staying NA do 4.11 or if you must, 4.10 and 3.73 or so if you plan to spray, go FI, etc.

Added strength with the 4.11 couldnt hurt and dont bother using the stock rear end. It'll break very easily with the gear. 12-bolt or 9". If you dont go with an aftermarket rear, dont launch hard with that much power, but then whats the point?
