Gears

I am thinking of getting some gears. I want to get a 3.73 ratio, but when I went to buy some they asked what type of carrier I have. How do I figure out which carrier I have? I have a 2002 SS M6.

Re: Gears

3-series carrier is what you have. "2-series" means it's designed (ideally) for 3.08 and numerically LOWER gears, while "3-series" gears are for 3.08 and numerically HIGHER gears. I'm confident that yours is a 3-series, because (if I'm not mistaken) ALL M6 cars come with a 3.42 gear, which calls for a 3-series carrier...

Re: Gears

I would stick with what you have, just my opinion.

Re: Gears

if you dont race alot at the track and just love tearin up the streets, 4:10's are the way to go

Re: Gears

I have 3.73 and am very happy with them. You get through most of 4th gear on the track, instead of shifting again right before the line. On the highway they are very reasonable, when I got a tune to correct the speedo I gain most of the mpg back that I lost from the gear.

Re: Gears

I have an M6 and I had 3.73s, then went to 4.10s. I liked the 3.73s overall better, so I went back to them...
