Gears

I have 4.10's but the pinion nut came loose and screwed them up. Looking at buying some 3.73's or 4.10's Its a daily driver and i see the track maybe 3x a year.

Where should I buy my gears from, Im looking for some US Gear because I hear they dont whine (or not as much)

Also should i stay with 4.10's or go to 3.73's

Thanks

Re: Gears

dunno about where to buy, but if its just a 10bolt, it would be safer with 3.73, and i hear its better on gas than the 4.10. i heard rearend won't hold up to 4.10 for too long. how did it feel/hold up for you? how long since you put it on?

Re: Gears

Motive gear would be another to look into. I have motive 4.10's in my car and have had not problems as of this far.

Re: Gears

I would recommend some Motive 4.11's. They are stronger then the 3.42's, 3.73's and 4.10s that all use a 41 tooth ring gear, 4.11's are 37 tooth ring gears. They also use a lower tooth count pinion gear with 9, vers. 10, 11, 12.. Less teeth = larger teeth = stronger teeth. Grease used to have a side by side picture on his website, a night and day difference. I would recommend a solid pinion spacer as well while your in there. There are a few people on here if you dig around that are running these gears on ET Streets for quite some time without any problems, knock on wood..

There are two sides to that coin. You could also say less teeth = more torque/pressure exerted per tooth. So, the teeth would need to be stronger.

or

More teeth = less torque/pressure exerted per tooth (more distributed load), so they don't need to be as strong.

I am not saying one is better over the other, just that real world differences may not be so great.
