Re: gears

no point of wasting the 500-600$ on new gears and install, you'll be that much closer to a 12 bolt by saving that money

Re: gears

The M6 you have is the main deciding factor as I see it. I have 3.73 Strange gears and Torsen differential with a TA girdle which is set-up to close tolerances, and continues to take all the abuse the built, extremely hard shifting 4l60e can throw at it, but an M6 creates much higher temporary torque pressures than an A4. If you are hard on your car, get the 12 bolt. I intend too install a Strange 12 bolt next year just because the 10 bolt is physically, 'just-too-small'. My future plans for my car will stress the 10 bolt structure to the limits {even with my A4} produced by the M6's, and I know it will just be a matter of time before the 10.62 goes south. But I say next year because of my $ situation. If I could afford it, I would have used the $ I spent on the gears and carrier towards a 12 bolt. JMO

Re: gears

Goooooooood luck on getting a Strange. Order it now, and you "might" get it by next year. UGH! For an M6...go no less than 4.10s ...I actually wish I would have stepped up to the plate and gotten 4.30s now.

3.73s are great for an A4. If you change your mind and decide to get it a little sooner, you'll most likely be buying a Moser. Strange is a great company...and only 15 minutes from me, but they're ignorant when it comes to "small ticket" items like a 12 bolt. They order the posi units only 10 at a TIME!!!!!
