Most likely you have 3.42 gears. The only real benift to swapping them out would be to goto 4.10's. A 3.73 swap won't produce much of a difference. As a daily driver 4.10's should give you some extra low end grunt.

If no one has changed anything you have either 2.73's or 3.23's. The 3.42's did not come untill 1994. Be very careful on what you change to ( if you change at all). In 1993 two different 6 speeds were offered. The M28 and the M29. My 93 codes are in the glove compartment. They should show M28 or M29.
You might also look for GU2 or GU4. GU2 means you have 2.73 rear-end gears, which came with the M28 tranny. GU4 means you have 3.23's, which came with the M29 tranny. Both trannies have different enternal gearing than 94 and up ones do. Here is the gearing specs:

M28 M29 94+
3.36 2.97 2.66 1st gear
2.07 2.07 1.78 2nd gear
1.35 1.43 1.30 3rd gear
1.00 1.00 1.00 4th gear
0.80 0.80 0.74 5th gear
0.62 0.62 0.50 6th gear

As you can see there is a big dif. I have the M29 with the stock 3:23's, but if you multiply out the final ratio's mine is very close to a 94+ running 3.73's. If you were to install 3.73's in your car and let's say you have the M29, that would equal to a 94+ up car running 4.30's.....PRETTY STEEP gearing for the street. The 93's are pretty unique in several ways and this is one of them. Hope this helps.

GU5 = 3.23, not GU4.

If you have an M6, you have 3.42's now (most likely).. In my opinion you will be disappointed in 3.73's. I know I would have been because 4.11's aren't near as bad as some make it sound and the get up and boogy is AWESOME!! 3.73's, 4.10's and 4.11's are pretty much your only choices. Im sure you can find some other ratio's out there and obviously you have numerically higher ratio's available but by far the 4.11's would be your best choice anything less and your waisting your $$, imo..

Like whatsup said. If you change to 3.73's in your particular car that's equal to the 94+ going to 4.30's or so. It would be very fun to drive, but traction would most definately be useless. If you went 4.10's(which are a very very common mod on 94+ 6spds) you would be even steeper and again be even worse off. I recommend spending your money on another performance mod. Gears aren't really something you need right now. Your already equal to about 3.73's in the rear right now(in a 94+ car anyway). I think you would probably get more out of another mod that is equal in total cost. If your having someone install your gears for you, and your paying full price for them, you could probably get a nice set of LT headers and wake your car up like no other. Just a suggestion.

He has a 93' M6 which means he didn't even have a stock option of 3.42's yet. It's already been determined he has an M29 and 3.23 gears. I agree with you about 4.11's. Stronger than 4.10's and basically the same with the same price. It'd kinda be dumb not to go stronger if you could.
