gear noise

Ok, I never claimed to be an expert on rear ends but that didn't stop me from replacing all the bearings in mine and putting a set of 3.73's in there while I was at it. All this was done about two years ago and the car has been driven daily ever since. Over those two years I have been adding more and more go-fast parts to the car including suspension stuff (LCA's 3 pt SFC's). When I installed the gears they whined like a schoolgirl right off the bat when the car was around 40 mph in coast or decel. They were not bad under accel. I since added sound mat to the whole car and have new tires and rims. That's when I started thinking about making the rear end quieter. That's when I realized this. If I am in a right hand curve the noise from the rear end doubles, in a left hand curve it almost stops....does this mean anything to anyone? Also when I did the gear swap I know I tightened the pinion nut too much. Lack of another crush sleeve and my impatience made it stay that way. Should I pull her back apart and reset the bearing tension on the pinion? Would it do any good at this point?
