gear install in TX?
gear install in TX?
Story:
400hp TA, w/410 gears.
Eventually the torson differential fails.. worm gears in the ring and pinion, basically toasting everything.
Take it into a local shop. They spend 2 weeks with the car, I bought install kit ($90), SLP take out posi, new seals, wheel bearings, and new ring and pinion.
Whines like a school-girl.
Take it back twice, they go through two addtional gearsets and one more set of bearings.
Eventually, the shop owner tells me it's the tranny (you can hear the whine in the lingfelter driveshaft... I drive it out again.
Eventually, it gets so bad I take it to Waco.. The shop there tells me there was no way they set it up right.. They set it up, guaranteeing if I go to 373s that it will be totally quiet.
100% better, but still whines.
I've got pretty good backlash in it now, need to replace it again.. I can hear bearing whine. My 6th is unusable with 373s..
Anyone recommend an excellent shop to do the install? I'm probably going to replace everything again - try and get it right, but this has cost me a fortune..

I know of a great shop up her in Hurst (just outside of Fort Worth). The name is Texas Drivetrain Performance (TDP). The guys name is Jason and he is great at working on our drivelines. He is doing a axle seal and bearing change for me tommorow for 60.00 and that includes the fluid and additive. Unfortunately I do not have his number on me here at work, but do a search for TDP on Ls1.com and you will find his number. Good luck.
