Gear Grind

When I shift hard into 3rd and 4th gear in my 99 Z, I hear a grinding sound. I can also feel the grind through the shifter. If I push it into gear real slow, it feels like there's a little resistance for a moment, but it goes in without grinding. This happens no matter how far I push the clutch down. I recently bought the car, and the previous owner told me he had put in a brand new clutch only a few weeks before I picked it up, if that helps. Does anyone know what might be causing the problem? Thanks.
