Arrow Gear choice with a new strange 12 bolts

Ok im gonna (today or tomorrow)order a strange 12 bolts rear end but i dont know what gear to choose. The car is a 6speed.

Im planning to have a small setup, about 350hp to the wheels with bolt on and a small cam or maybe less ,thats it no, more then that.

What should i choose 3.73:1 or 4.10:1

Thank you for your quick answer

Be sure to have those gears checked out by a local shop when your 12 bolt comes in.

Why the strange come fully assembled and already fill with gear oil.Its also dyno tested.

You need to decide which gear ratio, based on how you use the car. Do you take it to the track? What kind of redline will the engine have? 4.10's may limit you to 110mph trap speeds in 4th gear, depending on the RPM capabilites of the engine, diameter of the tires, etc.

In simple terms, the 3.73's will make it feel like you added 9% rear wheel torque, while the 4.10's will feel like you added 20%. Your RPM at any given highway speed will increase by the same amount - generally not a problem with the fat O/D ratios offered by 5th and 6th gears.

Then you need to think about what you can come up with in terms of traction.... both for the track and for the street.

There is no single "correct" answer.

The car will see the track 2-3 times a year max,the redline will be around 6000-6200rpm with lt4 spring.I will keep my stock wheel with 245/50zr16(i like the stock sleeper look).

For the traction terms i dont know thats why i ask for help

I've got 4.10's behind my A4, so there's no reason you can't run them with your M6. But like Fred says, you've gotta consider all the variables and what you want your car to do (now and down the road).

If the ring and pinion isn't new, then let it go. If you would have been getting a new R&P, I would have checked them out just for the peace of mind. Seems like I remember hearing something about 12-bolt gear whine?

The Moser 12-bolts have been know to require a setup. I haven't ehard anything like that with the Strange. Mine was fine from the factory.

Why would the R&P in a newly ordered Strange 12-bolt not be "new"?

It would not be "new" if it was dyno tested and wear was established. I think I may have had Moser and Strange confused as the Moser units have been known to suffer from gear whine.
